Safety Information

Health and Safety

  • We have our own Health & Safety adviser who has been trained.  The adviser carries out risk assessment on any new area of work prior to it being introduced to our students.
  • Each student is also risk assessed, and we make sure all our staff are fully trained and informed.
  • All our staff are fully trained in Health & Safety to ensure that our students work in a safe environment.
  • Our own Health & Safety adviser is regularly training staff and students on site.
  • We encourage our staff to relay the importance of Health & Safety to our students, so they understand the hazards while working on the farm, and to ensure we maintain a safe and secure environment.

Risk Assessments

  • All our students are risks assessed individually to make sure all staff are aware of the students’ needs and difficulties.
  • Risks assessments are reviewed every year or if there is a change in the student’s needs.
  • We also carry out risk assessment for each area of the Centre, and we make sure staff are aware of the procedure to avoid putting our students at risks.

Farm Working & Visitors

  • All our students working on the farm are counted and registered every day.
  • The farm is also well secured as we do have a very strict policy about students and visitors going in and out.
  • Visitors are always greeted by our receptionist and follow a strict policy while they are on site.

Tetanus Immunisation

  • Anyone working in the day centre, staff, and students, must have their tetanus immunisation done and up to date.
  • It is a requirement that students must be up-to-date with their tetanus immunisation before starting at The John Graham Centre as they will be working in a farming environment.
